How much does Devin cost?
Devin costs $0, $20 or $200 a month on the individual plans, and at least $80 a month on Teams. These are the plans on devin.ai/pricing and in Cognition's self-serve plans docs:
| Plan | Price | Members | Included usage | Past the quota |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1 | A light quota, limited models | Upgrade to a paid plan |
| Pro | $20 a month | 1 | Daily and weekly quota | On-demand credits at API pricing |
| Max | $200 a month | 1 | A much larger weekly quota, no daily cap | On-demand credits at API pricing |
| Teams | $80 a month minimum, $40 per full seat | Up to 200 | A Pro-sized quota per full seat | Shared on-demand credits |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | ACUs, at the rate in your order form | Set by contract |
The pricing page lists monthly prices only. Pro and Max are single-user plans, so two people who want to work in one Devin account need Teams. Factory's individual plans also run from $20 to $200 a month, and Factory AI pricing breaks them down.
What does each Devin plan include?
Free is mostly a way to try the editor and the agent. Cognition lists a light quota, limited model availability, and unlimited Tab completions and inline edits. Its docs add Devin Review and DeepWiki.
Pro is where Devin's cloud agent starts. The pricing page lists access to Devin Cloud, frontier models from OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and SpaceXAI, open-source models, Cognition's own SWE-2 model, and the option to buy extra usage at API pricing. SWE-2 is free in Devin Desktop and the Devin CLI through November 30, 2026, but not in cloud sessions, according to Cognition's models docs. Slack, Linear and MCP integrations come with it.
Max has everything in Pro with what Cognition calls "significantly higher quotas". Its allowance is weekly only, so you can spend a large part of it on one day.
Teams adds up to 200 members, shared billing, an admin dashboard with analytics, and priority support. Enterprise adds SAML or OIDC single sign-on, a deployment in your own cloud (VPC), dedicated account management and custom terms.
How does Devin's usage quota work?
On Pro and on Teams full seats you get a daily and a weekly allowance, and both refresh on their own. The daily allowance is more than a seventh of the weekly one, so a heavy weekday doesn't cost you the weekend. Max has only the weekly allowance. One quota covers Devin's cloud sessions, the Devin CLI and Devin Desktop.
Cognition doesn't publish the quotas as numbers. Its pricing FAQ says the cost of each message "varies based on the model used, the task size and complexity, and the reasoning required", and that for most users the quota covers all their agent usage.
Cognition's usage docs explain what draws it down:
- What Devin does. Planning, reading code, running commands and browsing all count, plus virtual machine time, which Cognition calls a small fraction of the total.
- What it doesn't charge for. Apart from keeping the machine running, Devin uses almost nothing while it waits for your reply, waits for a test suite, or clones repositories.
- Idle sessions. A session goes to sleep after 30 minutes without activity and stops using quota until you message it again.
- Windows. Windows sessions use about 9% more than the same work on Linux.
If you pay for ChatGPT Go, Plus or Pro, you can link that plan on Devin's Pro, Max or Teams plans. GPT model requests then come out of your ChatGPT plan instead of your Devin quota.
What happens when you run out of Devin usage?
You keep working on on-demand credits, which you buy in advance. Cognition's pricing FAQ says extra usage "is consumed at API pricing". The self-serve docs add that bought credits roll over from month to month and never expire.
You can top up at any time from Settings, turn on auto-reload, and set spending limits per session. On Teams the credits sit in one shared pool that any member can draw from.
How does Devin Teams pricing work?
Teams has an $80 monthly minimum, and you can reach it with full seats, prepaid credits, or both. A full seat costs $40 a month and comes with its own Pro-sized quota and Devin Desktop. A flex seat is free, has no quota of its own, draws only from the team's shared credits, and doesn't include Devin Desktop.
| Full seats | Credits included | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | $80 | $80 |
| 1 | $40 | $80 |
| 2 | $0 | $80 |
| 3 | $0 | $120 |
From two full seats up, you pay $40 per full seat and no credits are bundled in. Automations and Devin Review on Teams always draw from the shared credits, not from anyone's seat. When the credits run out, Cognition says Automations stop and Devin Review switches to its smart diff viewer.
Are Devin and Windsurf priced separately?
Not on Devin's current plans. Cognition renamed Windsurf to Devin Desktop on June 2, 2026, after buying Windsurf in July 2025. On Pro, Max and Teams full seats, one quota now pays for the Devin Desktop editor, the Devin CLI and Devin Cloud, the agent that works in its own machine.
They are separate if you're still on a Windsurf plan. Cognition's Devin Desktop FAQ says Windsurf plans keep their pricing, including legacy Windsurf Enterprise plans, and that Devin Local, the new agent in the editor, uses the same prompt-based credits as Cascade did. Those plans don't come with the cloud agent. The FAQ says "Devin Cloud remains a separate SKU" and sends anyone who wants it to their account team.
So if you see both Windsurf and Devin prices online, that's the reason. New customers buy one Devin plan, and older Windsurf customers buy the cloud agent on top. The Buildful vs Windsurf page covers the editor side.
What does Devin Enterprise cost?
Cognition doesn't publish Enterprise prices. Its billing docs say Enterprise customers pay in Agent Compute Units (ACUs) at the rate in their order form, and admins can cap ACUs per organization and per user.
ACUs used to be the unit for everyone. When Cognition changed its self-serve plans on April 14, 2026, it retired the old Core plan and the $500 a month Team plan and started pricing self-serve usage past the quota in dollars, not ACUs. So if a guide quotes you an ACU price for Pro, it's out of date.
Where Buildful fits
Buildful does the job Devin Cloud does, without the editor. You describe a task in the browser, such as a bug fix or a new feature, and it runs in a private cloud sandbox on your GitHub repo, runs your checks, tests UI changes in a real browser and opens a pull request for you to review.
The pricing is counted differently. Devin sells a quota that Cognition doesn't put a number on. Buildful Pro is $10 a month for 1,000 tasks, and Team is $40 a month for 3,000 tasks shared by unlimited members, against Devin Teams' $80 minimum. In India they're ₹750 and ₹3,500, billed in rupees. Smart Mode picks the right open-weight model for each task, and on Pro and Team you can pick a frontier model like Claude or GPT yourself, with prepaid credit or your own API key. The Buildful vs Devin page has the side-by-side.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to use Devin AI?
Devin costs $20 a month on Pro and $200 a month on Max for one person. Teams starts at $80 a month, with full seats at $40 each, and Enterprise is priced on request. Past the plan's quota, extra usage is billed at API pricing from prepaid credits.
Is Devin free?
Yes, there's a Free plan at $0. It has a light quota, limited model availability, and unlimited Tab completions and inline edits. Cognition's pricing page lists Devin Cloud, its cloud agent, as part of Pro and above.
What is an ACU in Devin?
An ACU, or Agent Compute Unit, is the unit Devin Enterprise is billed in, at the rate in each customer's order form. Since April 2026, Free, Pro, Max and Teams use a quota and dollar credits instead.
What's the difference between Devin Pro and Max?
Max costs $200 a month instead of $20 and has a much larger quota. Pro's quota resets daily and weekly, and Max's resets weekly with no daily cap. The features are the same.
Is Devin Desktop included in Devin's plans?
Yes. Devin Desktop, formerly Windsurf, uses the same quota as Devin Cloud and the CLI on Pro, Max and Teams full seats. Teams flex seats don't include it. Older Windsurf plans keep their own pricing, and on those, Devin Cloud is bought separately.
Does Devin charge for usage past the quota?
Yes. Once the quota runs out, you pay for extra usage from prepaid on-demand credits, at API pricing. Cognition says bought credits roll over and never expire, and you can set spending limits and auto-reload.
