How much does Factory AI cost?

Factory costs $20, $100 or $200 a month for one developer, and $60 a month plus $40 a seat for a small team. These are the six plans on factory.com/pricing, with details from Factory's docs on individual and organization plans:

PlanPriceUsageSeatsWhat's included
Pro$20 a monthFactory's base rate limitsIndividualDesktop app, CLI and SDK, cloud and local background agents, billing and usage stats, agent-readiness dashboard
Plus$100 a monthAbout 5x ProIndividualHigher rolling rate limits, Droid Computers (cloud machines Factory manages)
Max$200 a monthAbout 10x ProIndividualHigher limits again, early access to new features
Teams$60 a month, plus $40 a seatPro's limits for each seatUp to 10Centralized billing
BusinessCustomCustom, shared limitsCustomSSO, SAML/SCIM, zero data retention, audit logs, admin controls
EnterpriseCustomCustom, shared limitsUnlimitedDedicated compute, on-premise options, data residency, priority support with SLAs

A team of five on Teams pays $60 plus 5 × $40, which comes to $260 a month. The pricing page lists monthly prices only, and the docs say Teams is billed month to month. Plus and Max add Droid Computers, cloud machines Factory manages for remote Droids. Devin, Cognition's coding agent, has the same $20 and $200 price points for one developer, and Devin pricing covers its plans.

Does Factory charge in dollars or in tokens?

Factory charges a flat dollar price each month, and measures what you use in its own credits. The individual plans docs say Droid sessions consume Factory Standard Credits based on model usage, plus compute for Droid Computers. Factory doesn't publish how many credits or tokens a plan includes. It describes Plus and Max only as multiples of Pro.

The money you can add on top is in dollars too. Extra Usage is prepaid credit in USD, which Factory draws down as your sessions use models.

How do Factory's usage limits work?

Each individual plan has three rolling rate limits, over 5 hours, 7 days and 30 days, and each window starts when you first use Droid. Factory says the three run independently, so you need room in all three to send a request. You can check where you stand under Settings > Usage, or by running /limits in Droid.

How fast you use them depends on the model. Factory's models page gives each model a multiplier, and a higher one uses your limits faster. Some examples:

ModelMultiplier
Claude Fable 5.14×
GPT-6 Astra4×
Claude Opus 5.51.6×
Claude Sonnet 5.50.8×
GPT-6.1 Sol0.8×
Gemini 3.1 Pro0.8×
GLM-5.30.56×
DeepSeek V4.1 Flash0.12×
GLM-5.3-Flash0.06×

Unused usage doesn't roll over from month to month. Extra Usage you've bought does.

What happens when you hit a Factory rate limit?

When you hit a limit, the request in progress finishes and the next ones get a rate limit error. Factory gives you two ways to keep going:

  • Droid Core. Switch to Factory's pool of open-weight models, which has its own separate rate limits and costs nothing extra. The models page lists GLM, Kimi, DeepSeek, MiniMax, Qwen and Mistral models in it.
  • Extra Usage. Buy prepaid credit, from $10. It doesn't expire, and the toggle stays on until you turn it off or the balance runs out.

Missions, Factory's mode for large multi-feature projects, need Extra Usage turned on. Factory says a Mission that hits a rate limit pauses.

Can you bring your own API key to Factory?

Yes. Factory's pricing page says every individual plan includes an allowance of free BYOK usage, and past that allowance, BYOK usage is charged according to your plan. Factory doesn't publish the size of that allowance. Its BYOK docs cover connecting your own provider keys, open-weight models from other hosts, or a local model.

What do Teams, Business and Enterprise add?

Teams is the self-serve plan for small groups, and Business and Enterprise are sales-led plans with custom contracts. On Teams each seat has its own Pro limits. On Business and Enterprise, usage is shared across the workspace and set by the contract, not by the rolling limits above.

Factory's docs say to choose Enterprise over Business when you need unlimited seats, dedicated compute, on-premise deployment, sub-organizations, data residency or priority support.

Where Buildful fits

Buildful is a background coding agent with one flat price. You describe a task, like a new feature or a bug fix, and Buildful runs it in a private cloud sandbox, runs your checks, tests UI changes in a real browser, and opens a pull request on your GitHub repo.

Factory Max is $200 a month. Buildful Pro is $10 a month for 1,000 tasks, or ₹750 in India, and Team is $40 a month for 3,000 tasks shared by unlimited members (₹3,500 in India). Smart Mode picks the right open-weight model for each task, and on Pro and Team you can pick a frontier model like Claude or GPT yourself, with prepaid credit (from $5) or your own API key. What is Factory AI? covers the rest of what Factory does.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Factory Pro?

Factory Pro costs $20 a month. It includes the Factory App, the Droid CLI and SDK, and cloud and local background agents, with Factory's base rate limits.

Does Factory have a free plan?

Factory's pricing page doesn't list one. Its plans start at $20 a month for Pro. Business and Enterprise are priced through Factory's sales team.

What's the difference between Factory Plus and Max?

Plus costs $100 a month for about 5x Pro's usage, and Max costs $200 a month for about 10x. Max also gets early access to new features. Both raise the rolling rate limits rather than adding a set number of tokens.

Does Factory offer annual billing?

Factory's pricing page lists monthly prices only, and its docs say the Teams plan is paid month to month. Business and Enterprise terms are set in each contract.

What is Droid Core?

Droid Core is Factory's pool of open-weight models, such as GLM, Kimi, DeepSeek and MiniMax. On individual plans it has its own rate limits, so you can switch to it at no extra cost when you run out of usage for the other models.

Does Factory's Extra Usage expire?

No. Factory says Extra Usage is prepaid credit in USD, with a $10 minimum purchase, and it doesn't expire. Unlike your plan's usage, it carries over from month to month.
